Delivered from Hard Drugs and Alcohol

Whoever you are, wherever you are at in your life, whatever you are facing – Jesus Christ can save you.

When I was 16 years old my life became subdued by addiction to drugs. There was nothing I didn't try or become addicted to and I was dominated by this for many years.

It didn't take long before addiction began to do what it always does. Its fleeting joy was replaced by darkness, depression and death. I lost many friends and loved ones to drugs and alcohol and found myself staring down the long road of either imprisonment or death. I tried everything I could, but nothing provided any escape from the incessant need for more and more drugs and alcohol.

Several years later, while driving my car down the interstate, I heard a name I knew as a child, the name of Jesus, and I spoke aloud to God saying, "Lord, I can't do this on my own, but I wan't freedom from this addiction God. Forgive me, and set me free Jesus."

The Lord showed me in my heart that He loved me, and that he had a plan for me, one of life and not death, one of victory and not defeat, that at the name of Jesus Christ every knee must bow, every addiction, every disease, every curse or evil or subjugation to sin must bow to Jesus Christ, the King of Kings. That included my own addiction.

That vision and moment was a word from God because it imparted life into me. It became the foundational moment in my transformation, and set my feet upon the path of deliverance.

I am now 100% completely free of all drug and alcohol addiction. I have been sober for over 10 years and I don't suffer from withdrawal, depression, fear, or the torment it brought.

I am not an alcoholic, I am redeemed. I am not drug addict, I am born again. I am not on the path to hell, I am on the path to eternal life, resurrected and saved by my Lord Jesus Christ, and HE WILL DO THE SAME FOR YOU.

There is nothing that is impossible with God, nothing He cannot do, nothing He won't set you free from.

Maintaining my freedom meant putting into practice what Jesus taught and it was simple:

  1. Remove the temptations from your life - friends who partake, stores that sell alcohol, don't tempt yourself!
  2. Pray everyday that God will keep you from temptation, you can't do it alone, pray that the Holy Spirit would fill your life.
  3. Read the Bible. It washes your mind, gives you hope and gives you clear thoughts and wisdom.
  4. Find and attend a church, surround yourself with other Christians who will encourage your new walk.
  5. Be patient. It was not easy leaving the darkness behind, but with faith and time it came to pass.

These basic things gave me the power to overcome the addiction. The gospel is simple, it is God who has the power, we just have to believe and do as it says.
